Tackle it Tuesday ~ The Dryer Vent

I decided to tackle the dryer this week. I am always worried about the potential dryer fire caused from balls of lint! I have wanted to buy one of those dryer cleaners... but haven't. Why spend $20 when I can use whatever I have here??

This is what it looked like when I took the lint trapper OUT!!!

I used the swifter duster. Love this thing. I found gobs of lint!

Finished up with the vacuum.

Pretty clean!!
This is something you might not think to do, but it is VERY important and could prevent a house fire!!!

Hi Peggy -
It's great that you're concerned about fires and your dryer vent but the area that you really need to be concerned about is the point past the connection piece where it attaches to hopefully what is rigid pipe in the wall/ceiling or beneath your floor. Dryer vents clog at the elbows of this pipe and must be professionally cleaned. Cleaning the areas of your dryer that you have access to is really only about 10% in most cases and not where they clog. Call a professional.
